Everyday weight labels usually describe mass. This converter compares those mass units through kilograms; it does not calculate gravitational force. One avoirdupois pound is exactly 0.45359237 kilograms, or 453.59237 grams. A stone contains 14 pounds and a metric ton contains 1,000 kilograms. A kilogram is approximately 2.20462262185 pounds. Negative entries can describe a change in mass, such as an amount removed.
A practical example
One pound is 453.59237 grams, or 0.45359237 kilograms. These are ordinary avoirdupois pounds and ounces, not troy precious-metal units.
