How to use Find & Replace
- Paste your original writing, then enter the word or phrase to find.
- Enter the replacement, or leave it empty to remove matches. Choose first match or all matches.
- Review the replacement count and resulting text, then copy it.
A closer look
Find & Replace treats your search as ordinary text, so symbols such as a dot or a question mark are searched literally. Matches may appear inside longer words: replacing ‘cat’ can also change ‘catalog’. The original box stays untouched while the result updates. Matching proceeds through the original text once, so inserted replacements are not searched again.
A practical example
Replace draft with final in a short note and check the match count. Searching is literal; a dot means a dot, not a regular-expression wildcard.
A useful tip
Check the count before copying. A short search such as ‘in’ can affect many words you did not intend to change.
