How to use Paragraph Counter
- Paste the text you want to check.
- Leave a blank line between separate paragraphs.
- Watch the paragraph, word, and character totals change as you edit.
A closer look
This tool counts groups of non-empty lines separated by one or more blank lines. A blank line containing spaces also separates paragraphs. A single line break within a group stays in the same paragraph. This makes it useful for emails, plain-text drafts, and copied notes, where visual wrapping can otherwise make paragraphs hard to distinguish.
A practical example
Two lines of writing followed by a blank line and another line form two paragraphs. Wrapping a line on a narrow screen does not create a new paragraph.
A useful tip
If a document uses a single Enter between paragraphs, insert an empty line between them before counting here.
