A closer look
Check a draft’s length before posting or submitting it. Word and sentence boundaries use the browser’s international text segmentation rather than only splitting at spaces. Character counts use Unicode code points, so an emoji assembled from multiple code points can count as more than one character. Reading time is a rough estimate at 200 words per minute, rounded up.
A practical example
Paste Hello world! to see two words and 12 characters including the space and punctuation. Editing the text updates its counts without a submit step.
A useful tip
Submission systems may use different rules for hyphens, emoji, or languages. Use this count as a drafting guide and verify the final limit in the destination system.

Are spaces included in the character count?
The Characters total includes whitespace. Without spaces removes all whitespace, including tabs and line breaks.
Why does another counter show a different total?
Counters differ in how they treat punctuation, compound words, and Unicode sequences. Toolzafi uses browser-provided word segmentation.
